Concrete Block Construction
Concrete block construction has been an integral part of commercial construction as a building material for more than a century. Concrete block construction has grown as a desirable building material due to its versatility, economics, energy efficiency, and fire and wind resistance.
Team Cam specializes in concrete block wall construction, which is typically used for constructing small commercial buildings, standalone walls, and retaining walls. Concrete block is cost-effective for building smaller curb walls, planter walls, and commercial trash enclosures. Team Cam’s years of experience working with this material ensures that the concrete block retaining wall construction production timelines and fabrication move quickly and smoothly.
Concrete block structures are built using concrete masonry units, also known as concrete blocks, cement blocks or foundation blocks—large rectangular bricks made from cast concrete. Concrete masonry units are now produced in many sizes and shapes with various face finishes and glazes offering a wide variety of colors and texture to add interest to any finished building. Generally, high-density blocks are constructed of sand and fine gravel aggregate. Blocks using aggregates such as stone or quartz, while lower density, may be produced by using cinders as an aggregate, and are known as cinder blocks, breeze blocks or clinker blocks. Concrete blocks that do not contain cinders are often mistakenly called cinder or breeze blocks in everyday speech. Aerated concrete is also frequently used to make lightweight blocks.
The appearance of concrete block—uncovered—is typically drab and unattractive. Most people do not recognize many concrete block structures because of their external facings or coverings. That is why exposed surfaces on most of these projects are generally given a post-construction decorative finish of stucco, paint, stone, brick or siding. Team Cam can complete your concrete block construction project with any finish that you choose, leaving you with a beautiful finished and visually attractive structure.
Team Cam’s masonry block constructed buildings prove to be not only beautiful but fire-resistant, soundproof, and resistant to damage from pests and nature. When concrete blocks are constructed correctly, concrete blocks are ideal for strong foundations and basement walls because they’re stronger than poured concrete. Partition walls in any structure may be erected quickly using concrete blocks, and their cores or voids can be filled with steel reinforcing rods and concrete for additional strength. Because concrete block construction is virtually pest-proof, finished projects are unaffected by termites. Projects are also not affected by extreme temperatures and they are virtually soundproof, depending on the construction quality of the blocks and methods of erection. Concrete blocks also provide insulation against cold and heat and reduce energy usage which always contributes to the bottom line of operations.
